LINK VALIDATORS

http://imagiware.com/RxHTML/

Try this site, called “Doctor HTML.” It will check all the hyperlinks of a given page — up to around 30 — and give you a status report. Aside from that it will also check your document spelling, do Image Analysis, your document Structure, Image Syntax, Table Structure, Form Structure, Show Commands, Show Page (JavaScript only). And all of course, for FREE. Armando Trevino

Note: If you’re just looking to test a single page, you might try “Dr. HTML.” They let you test a single page, do link checks and HTML validation too. You’re limited to 5 tests per visit, though. If you want more, they charge a pretty steep fee. Tom Dahm

I’m working on a Web-based link checker right now (11/9/96). Give it a URL and it will test that page and/or your entire site. It’s still in testing, so expect a some kinks. Comments would also be appreciated). Checking an entire Web site takes time, especially since the robot sleeps in between retries to avoid overloading your server. Since testing a good sized site can take an hour or more, the site expects to notify you by e-mail when it’s done. Tom Dahm

There’s a software program (you can get a free trial) called SiteSweeper which can check a URL for broken links. It presents a report in HTML format and I think it’s pretty good. I don’t know which platforms it runs under; I use it on Win95. Nikki Murphy
